About the Role
Abnormal Security is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer II for the Messaging Security Products (MSP) division, including the Threat Visibility and Exploration Team (TREX) and Adaptive Classifications Team (ACT). You'll improve email security and threat-visibility experiences, delivering end-to-end features from database to UI with a primarily back end focus (about 80% back end, 20% front end).
The role enhances SOC visibility into detected threats and supports workflow automation with tools like the AI Security Mailbox and Detection 360.
What you will do
- Design and execute software projects through conception, design, implementation, launch, and operation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship for junior team members.
- Collaborate with TPMs, PMs, and GTM teams to implement, verify, and iterate on customer-driven requests.
- Raise engineering excellence by sharing knowledge and investing in professional development.
- Contribute to the team’s work within the first two weeks.
Must Haves
- BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field.
- 3+ years of industry experience designing and building full-stack software applications.
- Experience with our stack:
- Expertise in React, Redux, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Intermediate+ Python and/or Go skills.
- Experience building and operating features from scratch, balancing delivery with operational work.
- Comfort following established guidelines, coding practices, and conventions.
- Experience working with distributed teams and strong asynchronous communication.
- Growth-driven mindset with increasing impact and responsibility over time.
- Able to leverage AI developer tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor in daily workflow.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Django, Postgres/MySQL, and Prometheus.
- Familiarity with AWS services and deployment practices.
- Experience working with LLM-powered tools and AI assistants.
- Knowledge of containerization.
- Experience with distributed systems.

Eligible roles include bonus, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits; compensation varies by skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
Base salary range: $148,800–$175,050 USD.
