Join the Developer Platform Experience team in Platform Engineering as a Software Engineer (L2).
About the job
The team builds Twilio's internal developer portals, CLIs, APIs, software taxonomy, and local dev environments to improve developer productivity. Current focus includes a Backstage-based taxonomy system and portal for a unified cloud-native platform.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship backend, frontend, and client-side applications for internal tools.
- Collaborate via reviews, planning, and pair programming; write tickets and docs.
- Support internal users and join a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Improve developer platform UX, local tooling, and onboarding.
Qualifications
Required
- Remote async collaboration with GitHub, Jira, Slack, and Zoom.
- Proficiency in Typescript, Python, Go, Terraform, and Bash.
- Experience with AWS and relational databases.
- 2+ years in software engineering with a platform engineering focus.
Desired
- Strong opinions on developer experience and local dev best practices.
- Front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Internal developer platform tools like Backstage, OpsLevel, Cortex, or Battlestar.
- Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Fluency with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot.
Location
Remote (US). Not eligible in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, or WA.
Travel
Occasional travel for team or project meetings.

Compensation
Estimated range for CO, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, VT, or Washington DC: $114,600-$143,300. Final pay varies by skills and location; role may include equity/bonus.
